Portledge School's After-School Enrichment program offers a vibrant array of activities designed to enhance students' academic, artistic, and athletic abilities. This program is an extension of our commitment to providing a holistic education that fosters growth, creativity, and curiosity beyond the classroom. By engaging in diverse, hands-on experiences, students are encouraged to explore new interests, develop critical skills, and build lasting friendships in a supportive and nurturing environment.

After 3 Club

The After 3 Club is for families that need their children to extend their school day. The program meets from dismissal until 5:30 p.m. The schedule includes outdoor play, snack time, and homework. If you are interested in joining the After 3 Club, please complete this form. Pricing is included in the form.

    In this energetic class, students will learn the basics of pickleball, including rules, techniques, and strategies. Through fun drills and friendly games, participants will develop their hand-eye coordination, teamwork skills, and sportsmanship. Whether you’re a beginner or have played before, everyone is welcome to join in the fun! The program is taught by Robert Wu, a Pickleball USA Ambassador for Suffolk County and Portledge parent, who brings expert knowledge and a passion for the game to help students improve and enjoy the sport.

    Grades 2nd–5th

    Explore the artistry of dance in our inclusive ballet class! Students of all levels will delve into essential ballet skills, gaining proficiency in the five classical positions, familiarizing themselves with movement terminology, and refining core techniques. Students will deepen their understanding of the barre, enhancing their placement and musicality. This 16-week program will culminate in a special showcase where students can share their progress and celebrate their achievements!

    In this unique course, students build self-confidence, performance skills, and theatrical charm to wow their audience with tricks from their very own magic kits! With an experienced instructor, a step-by-step guidebook, and access to tutorial videos, students can learn the tricks of the trade and then practice them at home. Young magicians showcase their new skills for family and friends in a culminating magic show!

    Discover Cheer Dance where we celebrate youth cheerleading, tumbling, and dance. Students will master fundamental skills, basic stunting, and dance moves, all while emphasizing the essentials of teamwork and camaraderie. Our goal is to instill a love for cheerleading and impart values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication. This program fosters self-confidence and nurtures a passion for spreading joy.     Prepare for the great outdoors! As survivalists, students learn exactly what to do in an emergency through the team-based study of real-world survival skills. From investigating the utility of tools to working through challenging situations, students use ingenuity to gain crucial skills such as knot tying, water purification, and compass navigation.     Bring environmental science into the palms of your hands! Nature Watch’s interactive, project-based lessons center around hands-on activities that engage, enlighten, and enliven the learning process. In a given course, students dive deep into topics like animals, ecosystems, climate, and more. Nature Watch’s activity kits align with NGSS, advance 21st-century science education, and are mapped for STEAM extensions. To further promote discovery, all kits include a craft so each student can “make and take” their project home.

  • My First Lemonade Stand

    Learn how to make delicious, sweet-and-tangy lemonade – and turn it into a money-making venture! Experiment with different recipes, create eye-catching flyers, and practice essential skills like counting money, making change, and tracking your profits. Then, at the grand finale event, set up your lemonade stand, sell, sell, sell, and raise funds for a charity chosen by the students!   • The Speaker Space

    Grades 6th–8th

    This program runs for six weeks only

    Speaking on the spot? Defending your argument? It can be nerve-wracking, right? Through cultivating confidence, students will examine what makes communication impactful. This workshop is offered as part of a senior project by three lawyers on the high school mock trial team, which broke the all-time Portledge School record for the most wins in the county competition. Through interactive drills, intriguing debates, and our very own mock trial drills, students will delve into the art of public speaking.
