Summer Trailblazers Highlights

Check out summer highlights here.
Upper School:

This week, we want to highlight a 2-week program we recently added: A Place for Me, A Place for Us: An Architectural Studio Experience. Guided by a Harvard-educated Architect, this studio experience will teach students to think and work a bit like architects as they design a proposed Student Center - A Place for Me, A Place for Us. On this two-week journey of architectural discovery and experimentation, students will engage in a problem-solving process that combines creativity and critical thought. They will
build models, draw diagrams, make brief presentations, and use critical thought to test and evaluate architectural ideas and creative possibilities. Along with an ongoing discussion about the fundamental architectural concepts and principles they will discover, occasional general discussions about the field and the profession will provide students with historic and real-world connections to expand their understanding of architecture and its opportunities.

Middle School:

This week, we want to highlight our Jam Studio Camp, created and taught by Mr. Suzda. Jam Studio Camp is a high-energy two-week camp that allows middle school students to have fun not only learning to play Rock/Pop music together in a band but also, having a unique experience to record their songs in a professional style recording studio. Students will have instrument-specific masterclasses where they will study and explore the techniques of great musicians. Additionally, each student will join a 'band' where they will pick songs, rehearse, and practice for a performance. On the last day of camp, the students will get on stage and give a live concert to share their pieces with an audience. The performance will be recorded and sent to families. Students will also create websites for their band and can learn about the music business as well.

Lower School:

This week, we want to highlight our Summer Enrichment Program in the Lower School. Our Summer Enrichment Program offers an exciting chance for kids to explore and grow! Each session, children can choose two half-day activities from a variety of options, including sports, STEM, performing arts, and visual arts. It’s the perfect opportunity for kids to build on skills they already love while discovering new passions along the way. Whether they want to sharpen their abilities or try something totally new, the Enrichment Program is designed to inspire and challenge every child.

Early Childhood:

We are excited to announce that we have added a Parent & Child class to our Portledge Summer Trailblazers program. Join our Director of Early Childhood, Leigh DeMaria, to inspire imagination, self-expression, social interaction, and physical development through a variety of shared activities ideal for children ages 12 to 36 months. The class structure will include free play, art, singing, storytime, snacks, and outdoor play.
