Portledge in the Now.

PYP Feb. 16, 2025

The Sharing The Planet theme is a great way for students to explore important global issues. Each grade will approach this theme through a unique lens, helping students develop a deeper understanding of how we share our world with others. This theme aligns perfectly with our upcoming World Day celebration, where students will engage in activities that highlight different cultures, traditions, and global challenges. By learning from and about one another, we foster a sense of international-mindedness, reinforcing the importance of cooperation and shared responsibility in our world.
Supporting the “Sharing The Planet” Theme at Home

As we begin this theme, there are many ways families can extend learning at home. Some ways include:
  • Encouraging Curiosity: Discuss topics like conservation, cultural diversity, and problem-solving for global challenges.
  • Making Sustainable Choices: Involve your child in simple, sustainable actions like reducing waste, conserving water, or choosing eco-friendly products.
  • Exploring Global Perspectives: Read books, watch documentaries, or cook meals from different cultures to help children appreciate the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
Join Our PYP Parent Cohort!

We are excited to launch a PYP Parent Cohort, a group dedicated to strengthening family engagement in our PYP journey. This group will meet to discuss ways to enhance parent involvement in our PYP learning and will also have the opportunity to meet with IB representatives during our Verification Visit in April.

Our first gathering will be a Parent Coffee on April 4th—a chance to connect, learn more, and share ideas! If you are interested in joining, please email me! We look forward to partnering with you to support our students in becoming globally-minded learners!
