Celebrating Our IB Students’ Incredible Research Achievements!
This past week marked a significant milestone for our IB Diploma students as they officially submitted their Extended Essays—culminating months of rigorous research, analysis, and critical thinking. The breadth and depth of their work are truly remarkable, spanning multiple disciplines and showcasing their intellectual curiosity, perseverance, and ability to make meaningful interdisciplinary connections.
In the sciences, our Biology students explored topics like glymphatic clearance, Alzheimer’s disease, and the treatment of strep throat, while Physics students investigated roller coaster mechanics, radio waves and the ionosphere, and the prevalence of magnetic fields in forests. Our Math enthusiasts tackled fascinating concepts such as the Banach-Tarski Paradox, as well as the paradoxical nature of fractal geometry. For those passionate about Economics, topics ranged from the lifting of the mango export ban for Indian exports to Amazon’s impact on sustainability.
Students in Visual Arts, Music, and Film took a creative and analytical approach, examining topics such as the Impressionist Movement’s influence on modern art, Bob Marley's role in bringing Rastafarianism into pop culture, and Jordan Peele’s use of satire and horror to comment on racism in the U.S. Students of English Literature, delved into psychiatric care in the 1960s and a comparative analysis of work culture as depicted in Severance (2022).
The course Digital Society inspired thought-provoking research on topics such as digital healthcare and the ethical dilemmas surrounding robot companions for the elderly. History students deepened their understanding of past and present societal issues, researching imperialism and its impact on varied nations across the world, civil rights movements including school desegregation, the Lavender Scare, and the Tiananmen Square Massacre, as well as the impact of the 1972 World Chess Championship on the Cold War. Fashion and its impact on societal norms in Native American societies as well as women’s movements from 1848-1920 proved to be fascinating.
This incredible range of topics not only highlights the students' intellectual curiosity but also underscores the dedication of our faculty in guiding them through this rigorous academic journey. The IB philosophy emphasizes making connections across disciplines, and this year, more than ever, we have seen this goal come to life in truly inspiring ways.
We are so proud of our students’ achievements—congratulations to all on this important milestone.
