Varsity Athletics Kick off Season to Packed Crowds
Varsity Basketball and Hockey kicked off the winter season with two big home-opener events for both boys and girls. Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and students packed the stands on both nights!
The Portledge community came out in full force to celebrate our Hockey and Basketball Home Opener events in November, creating an electric atmosphere of school spirit and camaraderie. With packed stands and enthusiastic cheers, these events were a testament to the pride and support that defines our community.
Three of our four teams secured victories, showcasing the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes. The action on the court and the rink was thrilling, with players leaving it all out there for the crowd.
The Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball games also marked the first games played in our new Athletic and Wellness Building, The Chen Center. Both games in the Biondi Gym began with a special moment: two alumni took to the court to shoot the ceremonial opening baskets, symbolizing the ongoing connection between Portledge’s past and present. Thank you to Tamara Simpson ’14 and Zaire Baines ’22 for helping to kick off the start of the season!
Beyond the games, the event was a full community celebration. Raffle prizes added excitement to the evening, and treats and merchandise were available for everyone to enjoy. Families, friends, and alumni came together, creating an unforgettable experience that highlighted the unity of Portledge.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported these events, from our dedicated teams and coaches to the fans who brought their energy and enthusiasm. These events not only celebrated athletic excellence but also the spirit and togetherness that make Portledge special.
We look forward to more moments like this throughout the season and thank you for continuing to cheer on our Panthers! Go Portledge!
