After a full year of hard work and dedication, the Car Club has finished building our Traxxas Slash kit. The Car Club was created to teach other students about the mechanics of real cars through the fun and exciting world of RC cars. We also try to teach our members how to drive RC in extreme conditions, such as drift and rock climbing in the past.

This is our third year as a club. We drove the Slash for the first time on 1/28, and everything ran nearly flawlessly. The Car Club is going to continue to test the Slash’s performance to see how well we built the car but, more importantly, to see what modifications we should make next. Already, we have agreed upon adding metal bash bars to the front and rear of the car to protect the electronics in the event of a crash. Also, even though the instructions said the car was already waterproof, we would like to add some extra water protection, for example, a motor cover.

With the help of the Slash, our members will learn how to throttle control a high-powered RC car while being able to maneuver through an obstacle course. This takes an immense amount of skill to be able to do, but we believe that our members are up to the challenge. If you want to be able to drive this incredible machine (and yes, it has rear-wheel drive, so it can drift), you have to join the Car Club. No matter what route we go, the Car Club still has more exciting plans to come.
